Nuwara Eliya, the City of Lights, is a resort city in the Central Mountain range of Sri Lanka blessed with salubrious climate, breathtaking views of valleys, meadows, mountains and greenery; Surrounded by hills Natural Water falls and tea plantations, the town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year. Seetha Amman Temple

This place is believed to be the site where Sita was held captive by the rakshasa king Ravana, and where she prayed daily for her husband Rama to come and rescue her in the Hindu epic, the Ramayana.[2][3] There is a stream by the side of the temple where that runs from the hill nearby, and said to be formed for the needs of Sita Devi during her days at Ashoka Vatika. It is also considered that Devi Sita had taken bathe in this stream.[3] On the rock face across the stream are circular depressions that are regarded to be the footprints of Hanuman.

Gayathri Peedam Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka

The Gayathri Cathedral also known as Sri-Lanka the eswarar Temple is the very first temple dedicated for Goddess Gayathri. Gayathri Siddhar chose this place because it was a spiritual revelation. It is believed that the Tri Moortis – Siva, Brahma and Vishnu, appeared here when prince Meganath also known as Indrajit, son of an ancient Sri Lankan King Ravana Performed Siva Thapas and Nikumbala Yagna. Hakgala Botanical Gardens

The Hakgala Botanical Gardens was one of the pleasure gardens of King Ravana. This garden was expanded during the British period and has a wide variety of flowers including an excellent collection of orchids. This is the exotic pleasure garden where King Ravana kept the depressed Sita, insisting that she marries him. It was here where the heart warming meeting took place between her and Hanuman, who brought her Rama’s ring with the news that Rama was looking for her. He offered to carry her back but she refused. Part of this majestic garden still exists. It is also said that Hanuman nearly destroyed it in order to prove to Ravana of the forces a gainst him.

Divurumpola Temple Sri Lanka

Divurumpola is a Buddhist Temple located close to Welimada town (4 KM) on Nuwara Eliya – Badulla main road in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Divrumpola temple or Divrumpola Raja Maha Viharaya is directly connected with Ramayana trail in Sri Lanka. According to the Ramayana in Sri Lanka It is believed that Divurumpola temple is the place where Sita underwent the famous fire ordeal Agni Pariksha or “Agni” test in order to prove her chastity to God Rama after being rescued by him where she came unscathed and proved her innocence and purity. Considering these historical factors, Divurumpola is one of the important Ramayana Historical places in Sri Lanka. In Sinhala language Divurumpola means a “Place of oath”.
